The Department of Community Services of the Guyana Conference sets out to accomplish its mission by setting certain goals and objectives. Listed hereunder are such goals and objectives:

       Goals of the Community Services Department:
 

    • To establish greater community acceptance and confidence in our church.
    • To obtain a larger membership involvement in Community Services work.
    • To acquire more finance and a larger stock of food, clothing, etc, for welfare work.
    • To obtain a closer relationship with other agencies/organizations which have an objective similar to ours.
    • To organize and maintain a functioning welfare society in each church/company and federation in each pastoral district.
    • To have a minimum of six hundred (600) uniformed welfare workers by the end of the quadrennium.
    • To create a Seventh-day Adventists presence in every community by having a more positive influence for good.
    • To produce well-trained and organized Community Services personnel for disaster preparedness.
    • To increase the quantity and quality of service offered to the needy in our church and the community.
    • To begin the construction of a Community Service Centre by the end of the Quadrennium.
    • To secure a bond to store welfare supplies and equipment.



Objectives of the Community Services Department

To:

  • Establish one active Community Services unit in every church and company.
  • Hold training programs in every district annually, teaching the Essentials / fundamentals required for protecting and preserving human life.
  • Stimulate church participation in community exhibits and public events with a view to building relational bridges.
  • Increase church involvement in community activities and needy people.
  • Increase classes in art and craft, and other learning programs.
  • Provide a prompt response to all disasters around Guyana.
