The Health Ministries Department upholds the healthful life-style given by God and promotes its wise presentation as a means of introducing others to the fullness of the gospel message, which encompasses the physical, mental, social and spiritual nature of man. The main functions of the Health Ministries Department are as follows:
- To promote among the membership the Seventh-day Adventist life-style as based on the Scriptures and the Spirit of Prophecy
- To advise the church and related agencies, regarding the development and implementation of health and temperance related policies and programs.
- To provide through publications, services, and programs, an on-going witness concerning the physical, mental, and soul-destroying effects of tobacco, alcohol, drugs, other substances and wrong lifestyle.
- To be actively involved in the evangelistic thrust of the church.
- To oversee and provide support for SDA health-care institutions at all levels of Church organization.
- To maintain liaison with SDA health professionals and related organizations, and foster their involvement in the health and temperance program of the Church.
