According to the General Conference President, Jan Paulsen, “Sabbath School is like breakfast - for more than 150 years it has provided the spiritual nourishment that is needed to meet the challenges that arise during the rest of the week.”
The supreme objective is to win, hold and train for God, men, women, youth, boys and girls from every clime and nation in the great work of the Sabbath School. All its planning and preparation has been with this in mind. Another objective of the Sabbath School work is to ingather souls for Christ Jesus. The order of working maybe faultless, the facilities all that could be desired, but if the children and youth are not bought to Christ, the school is a failure.
It is essential that forms and ceremonies and the mechanical operation of the Sabbath School be not allowed to eclipse the primary fundamental work of the school: a soul-winning school for all non-believers; a soul-training school for people of the Advent Movement. It is a place where, through a living connection with God, men and women, youth and children, maybe so fitted up that they shall be a strength and blessing to the church. In seeking to meet the spiritual formation needs of its members, it features emphases in fellowship, outreach, Bible study, and mission and provides a rich spiritual environment in practical, everyday settings. In Sabbath School, there’s something for everyone and everything for you and for people all around you!
