World Church Official Visits Guyana Conference

The Guyana Conference received a visit from a representative of the General Conference in the person of Dr. Jonathan Kuntaraf, the World Church Sabbath School and Personal Ministries Director. Dr. Kuntaraf made the official visit on the occasion of the first School of Lay Evangelism Graduation held by the Guyana Conference on Sabbath, February 21, 2009.

Dr. Kuntaraf was the designer of the School of Evangelism curriculum. It was therefore a ‘triple blessing’ to have him - not only present for the ceremony, but also to preach at the morning pre-graduation convention, and to deliver the graduation feature address. In his sermon, “The Crowed Church”, Dr. Kuntaraf referred to Jesus’ earthly ministry of mingling with the populace, showing sympathy and ministering to needs. He admonished that the overwhelming public response seen through the crowds that converged then about Jesus, would also be realised in our church today once we lift Jesus up as he was uplifted during his sojourn on earth.

Later, in his graduation feature address, Dr. Kuntaraf emphasised the existing worldwide famine for the word of God. He told the graduating class that they had been trained to share God’s word for this very reason and that there is the need for a revival that will not come unless time is spent in the study of God’s word for the purpose of sharing it. He encouraged those present to never underestimate the power of God and what could be done through it. As such a positive attitude is essential to working effectively for Christ.

Dr. Kuntaraf’s visit to the Guyana Conference was the last of the many he made in the Caribbean region between 13 - 22 February, 2009 for the purpose of officiating in School of Lay Evangelism Graduations.
